I love reading the lists that other bloggers share--what they're reading, eating and thinking about. It's a great way to discover new books, articles or recipes, or nudge me toward new ways of viewing the world or myself. I've been working on a blog post about turning 40, but I haven't yet been able to articulate my feelings exactly right. So in the meantime, I have a little inspiration for your weekend.
I am completely absorbed in Andie Mitchell's powerful and well-written memoir It Was Me All Along, to the point where I can't wait to get in bed at night to read. As someone who has also struggled and (mostly) won the battle over food obsession and negative body image, I find her story incredibly moving and empowering. If you're on Instagram, take a peek at her work over the last few weeks with Aran Goyoaga and Jenn Elliott Blake. It made my heart swell to watch those women supporting each other in their work. Pure joy.
My Mom recently completed a retreat to find inspiration and direction for shaping her life's purpose. Among her discoveries was that she is inspired by creating and appreciating beauty in the world. This post by my friend Steve reminded me of why that's important.
This post by the lovely Mimi Thorisson reminds us to be kind to each other.
I'll be making this for Easter dinner.
This weekend, we will be celebrating the 100th birthday of Moe's sister, Ida. Moe and his other older sister, Rose, will both be there--and not just there, but with their dancing shoes on. Everyone wants to know their secret. I'm convinced that it's simply a positive attitude and showing up for life. Living with joy and communion--the secret to life.
And a little wine and good food certainly doesn't hurt, either.
Here's to a joyful weekend!
I love when I see an email from a friend, and that’s how I think of you. I hope you feel the same. In my newsletter, I share the kinds of recipes and stories I used to blog about. You’ll get the recipes I’m cooking for my family as well as anything else I think might bring more connection or more joy.
